Hi. I'm Rek.
A real coach for real players.

About

I'm a professional coach and mentor, specialising in player development and mentality.
I offer a wide range of coaching services, with free and paid options, all tailored to get you the best results.
Free Coaching
I do free vod reviews on my stream! These serve as a short, streamlined version of what you can expect from private coaching! If you're wanting a free vod review, simply join the discord and check the #vodreviewcriteria for your specific game!
I stream them regularly on my Twitch. See the link above!
Private Coaching
Do you feel you need a little more advice? Are you looking for something more tailored and personal?Compared to the Roast Commentary, these sessions are designed to provide much more information, coaching insights and future planning steps that will help you improve not just in your chosen game, but your overall problem solving skills and lifestyle choices too!For the costs outlined below, I offer private coaching lessons for individual players, teams and coaches alike. I also offer mentality improvement sessions. All lessons come with the same brutally honest guarantee! If you want professional, brutally honest coaching with absolutely ZERO sugar-coating, read below and see what fits your requirements!
This is the basic starter option. Private VoD Reviews are different from the ones you see on the Roast Streams. In these sessions, we are in a private call and will be discussing your vod in-depth together. These sessions feature much more micro and macro information about your chosen game, with extra information added in where possible. Keep in mind, these sessions will always go beyond the length of the time of the game you bring in, so please try to make at least an hours worth of time if your game is longer than 30 minutes.
Information sessions are essentially like a personalised lecture with added question/answer sessions. I give you as much information as possible within the hour, you can ask me anything about any subject in your chosen game and I will answer it in-depth. Can be based off professional vod footage for meta knowledge building purposes if you wish! You can also ask me questions about coaching methods in these sessions.
As part of the new pricing, I've added in a very specific method of coaching that was too short for student or coach Tailored Lesson Plans (TLP – as listed below) but worth enough information that many players have requested it before. Presenting the Self-Development Session, where I teach you the best methods to improve on your own and how to monitor your own progress. Skills learned in these sessions include how to review your own gameplay, rank-based information gains plus how to value-add them to your skillset and various aspects of planning that can help you gain meaningful results.
This lesson is up to 90-120 minutes long (depending on the games/reviews, I don't charge extra if it goes overtime!). These lesson plans are tailored to specific concepts of the game, (e.g. micro elements and interactions of the game, a chosen champion/hero or macro concepts for your game of choice) and are created based on YOUR playstyle. A psychological component is also added to help you push through those tough tilting times! These lesson types are now available to everyone as I will now be reviewing gameplay that I will ask you to bring, separate from any vods you submit to the stream (i.e. record a separate vod and we will assess your gameplay together in a 1on1 scenario, rather than on stream.). All students participating in this lesson will be asked to fill in a questionnaire regarding their character request, playstyle and goals.
If you're finding that your problems are not mechanics, character or teamplay related, but rather you're having trouble mentally preparing yourself for your chosen game; or you're wanting help dealing with the frustrations of life and gaming, this session is for you. Mentality sessions last for 2 hours, and focus entirely on your mental health rather than any game mechanics, thus no VoD is required for this. This session also features a separate questionnaire from the TLP, and the entire session is dedicated to learning what makes you tick mentally.
Coach Mentor sessions function in the same vein as the TLPs, but are formulated to help aspiring coaches get an understanding of what makes a good coach and in the future, a mentor. These sessions will discuss leadership, conflict resolution, finding and correcting weaknesses, improvement tracking and how to make the best of your student's results. The questionnaire for this lesson is separate, focusing on coaching techniques rather than player-oriented issues.
Team Coaching
Team prices are allocated based on 5-person rosters minus 1. If you are opting for a review for a duo, a small squad of players or if you're from an organisation and you're trying to recruit me for a bulk amount of time, DM me and we can discuss further.
This is a team-centric version of my private vod reviews. Includes comprehensive review of a single scrim block (these are 2-3 hours usually; my limit is at 3 hours or it costs more). The session is usually split into one hour of spectating and one hour of reviewing. If you wish to do purely vod reviews, this is fine; but please bring at least one hour worth of gameplay minimum so that I have enough content to provide a robust and informative vod review.
This is a team-centric version of my self development sessions. These sessions do not require stringent scrim block review or vod review. Instead, we change that out for discussion around how to develop team strategies, refine communications and discuss how to deal with high pressure situations as a team. I also advise you and your team to bring questions about concepts you believe your team struggle with, so that we can iron out strategies to overcome these obstacles together. You should consider this form of coaching if your team has struggles with communicating in matches, having no proper shot-caller or having no specific strategies around objectives in your chosen game.
These sessions are 3 hours long (no exceptions). Covers in-depth discussion and breakdown of a specific meta team composition, communications (including shotcalling) and how to review vods together. The aim of the lesson will be to improve overall team cohesion as well as create avenues for the team to improve as a unit together. The session will include a vod review with the newfound knowledge and adaptations included, allowing for a smooth transition for future games.
FAQ
Welcome! If none of your questions are answered, feel free to contact me via Discord or Email!
I am an EX-LATAM LCS Coach (with a Summer Split Championship), EX-professional Overwatch Main Tank player, EX-Collegiate Overwatch Coach, King of the Roast and all around badass.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, major subjects including Psychology, Profiling and Behavioural Sciences. I have been involved in esports for roughly 16 years starting with Unreal Tournament 99 in my teens, before progressing onto Counter Strike, then DotA, then ultimately League of Legends and Overwatch. I've been coaching for roughly 11 years at the time of writing this, and have built up quite the experience and repertoire between life, psychology, sports and video games to bring this project to you.
I've been playing League since Season 1 (Xin Zhao release) and I reached a peak elo of 2275 in Season 2 (Equivalent of Challenger at the time on NA) whilst playing with a ping of 250-300. However, due to illness, I decayed out of 2200 and ended lower than I could have. During season 2, I ran a lot of coaching sessions on NA and thoroughly enjoyed it but gave it up when I came to OCE. Having coasted along since then and underachieved way too often, I made the decision to give it a proper try in Season 5, battling against my illness and reaching Diamond 2 then landing my first analysis gig in the NA Challenger series. From there, I decided that I prefer coaching more than playing and have done so more and more since then.
I've been playing Overwatch since Open Beta, breaking into the top 10 of Oceanic professional teams with 2 teams I built from scratch. With numerous top finishings in tournaments, leagues and season endings in Top500/GM, I established myself as a talent scout and player-coach in the community. Unfortunately, I once again succumbed to illness and injury and decided I had to stop playing professionally altogether. Alongside Crohn's, I had nerve damage from a previous injury and had also developed an RSI from playing consistently. Since making the decision for my health, I've settled back into a coaching role once more.
So as of this point, I am purely a player coach and mentor. No allegiances, no required appearances, no advertising, no sponsorship gimmicks. I'm here for YOU and your needs. I stream as regularly as my health permits me and do vod reviews for FREE. There are also private lessons available outside the roast. Message me for enquiries.
League of Legends:
My most notable gigs include coaching the Season 5 LCS LATAM Summer Split Champions, the Kaos Latin Gamers. Prior to getting that job, I was recruited into The Gamers Network LoL Analyst boards and given a means to learn, grow and be recruited into various teams. From there, I became an analyst for various NA and EU Challenger Series teams, including Ex Nihilo and Enigma. I also participated in the Fnatic and CLG volunteer programs, garnering some experience and having a lot of fun. My LCS coaching continued when I coached OPL participants Infernum Gaming in Season 6. Shortly after, I decided that coaching players is more enjoyable than coaching teams/organisations, so I opened up Rekking Crew Coaching. Since then, I have trained a large amount of players to be stronger mechanically and mentally as they progressed in their respective games. My accolades as a coach were recognised to the point where I was recruited by Skill-Capped.com as a consultant, among other projects.
TLDR - Notable coaching gigs include:
• Freelance Analyst for various NA and EU Challenger Series teams and qualifier teams; names including Ex Nihilo, Lotus and Enigma.
• Head Coach of Kaos Latin Gamers - Season 5 LATAM LCS Summer Split Champions. Came 2nd at World's Qualifier, losing to paiN Gaming.
• Head Coach of Infernum Gaming - Season 6 OPL Spring Split Participants.
Overwatch:
Multi-season Master/GM/Top500. Have played in the highest competitive tier available in the Oceanic region. Was known as a talent-scout of sorts, building 2 teams from scratch (Blame Coinflip (became Skyfire) and the original Masterminds GC) and leading the latter into division 1. Played in various other division 1 teams afterwards but ended up quitting due to injury.
Regarding Valorant, I have made the decision to only follow esports from the outside this time around. I do not possess the physical strength to grind and put myself in a spot to lead a strong team in OCE Valorant as I did in Overwatch. I made the conscious decision to seek out and coach as many players, coaches and teams as possible within the Valorant scene. I'm accredited on the VALORANTPRO Discord server and offer the same professional level of coaching as given in my other titles.
Yeah, I'm alright at them. However, due to illness and injury I'm not as good as I used to be mechanically. Still show sparks of brilliance from time to time but I'm VERY inconsistent. :(
In League, I've hovered around mid Diamond for most seasons. I play Top Lane primarily, but have danced around positions from the beginning of my "career". I prefer Top Lane due to my enjoyment of playing aggressive bruisers/tanks. My favourite champions have been considerably known as the worst champions in League of Legends since they've been gutted immensely for a few seasons/reasons. They are Olaf, Illaoi and Mordekaiser; all of which I have played since their releases.
In Overwatch, I still hover about Master/GM depending on how I'm feeling despite always decaying back to Diamond when I get bored of it. Being a tank main, my focus was always to always pick off mispositioned targets and be the vanguard in a team setting. This allowed me to achieve the top percentile across numerous seasons since Overwatch Launch. Lately though, my aim has definitely dwindled due to injury and lack of consistent practice but rest assured my knowledge of the game has not fallen short in the least.
In Valorant and other shooters, I can still hover about the Diamond level and hold my own, but it's not consistent or painless enough to warrant doing it regularly, so I don't have enough games under my belt to see where I land generally.
Yes I do! If you go to the discord server, you will see a tierlist of the games and services I can offer. These include everything from lesson plans to self-help outside of the game. As time passes, I am also able to add games to my coaching repertoire by request, so if there's a game on the list you enjoy but don't see, ask me about it. I solemnly swear that if you pay for a session with me, I will do extra research for any pressing matter you wish to discuss.
Additionally, all current Twitch/Patreon subscribers can also submit games for my "Rek Reviews Anything!" show. The criteria channel and information become available when you subscribe to me on Twitch!
